Ubuntu on Firefly RK3399 : bad decision ?

Hi, i am quite disappointed with ubuntu on the Firefly RK3399.

Yes, the opengles mark test shows a horse spinning smoothly, but normal 2D rendering is extremely slow, wifi is often disconnecting, and i'm just scratching the surface...

I tried all ubuntu images, the latest one being from 20170831 on panbaidu.
Youtube video runs like at a few FPS in 1080p ... that's a joke !
You can tell something is really wrong with 2D rendering, just going to a full screen terminal in 1080p when the whole screen needs to scroll up, it takes several frames to redraw the screen.

How can i even write code like that ?

I bought the firefly card because it is based on rk3399 and Samsung Chromebook Plus shows amazing smooth experience on a 2400x1600 screen. I expected something similar with the firefly board or at least better than a simple raspberry pi.

But now i am worried, did i make the bad decision buying this board ?
