Does anyone know if and how it is possible to compile & load the rockchip kernel (https://github.com/rockchip-linux) on the Firefly RK-3399 board?

If possible - What would be possible steps to do it (flash "firefly" ubuntu first and replace kernel)? Which other dependencies need to be met?

What you would do is read the official compile your own kernel docs http://en.t-firefly.com/doc/product/info/id/290.html and try that but change the kernel to the rockchip version. The mali mesa/xorg side of the drivers might be dependent on the firefly kernel, the only way to tell is to test it...
