I'm giving up on using the RK3288 board in a future product. I need a full Debian system and don't have the time to work on this platform.

Yes, is available.
shipping cost with dhl to UK is 9 euro without transport insurance or 14 Euro with it.
that means 75+9= 84 euro / 75+14=89 euro

You can now have mainline u-boot and mainline kernel (4.2) to boot a debian / ubuntu / gentoo system off of eMMC.
