Is it possible to enable GPU/VPU acceleration for Ubuntu with the MALI drivers from ARM ?
There is already a discussion about this issue here: http://community.arm.com/message/21330

It will take some time to fix the VPG/GPU driver.Author: jas-rk Time: 12/15/2014 16:39
Is there any chance of getting hold a detailed datasheet/reference manual for RK3288? I suspect Rockchip aren't too friendly to such requests.
I had a quick look at the some of the code patches floating around its going to be an up hill struggle on the VPU side because its not related to Mali.?On the GPU side it may be more positive?however given the SOC is undocumented doesn't help.Author: busybee Time: 12/16/2014 14:37
According to my knowledge, GPU/VPU acceleration with ARM Mali is only available in Android now.
) works on RK3288, we can take the full power of Android
to Linux."
That statement is not completely correct although it does beg the question whether?fly-fire?is being marketed as ?'Android development board'? Which may limit its appeal.?Some form GPU acceleration has to be?available for chromeOS to work under Linux which isn't Android.

Android and Chrome OS are both variants of Linux. In the near future, Android/Chrome OS/Linux might meld into ONE.
