Title: ROC-RK3588S-PC mp4 playing problem
Hi! I am beginner in embedded.
I have ROC-RK3588S-PC. I have two questions:

1) I installed the official image ROC-RK3588S-PC-EXT_Ubuntu20.04-Gnome-r30028_v1.1.1b_230914 there.
After that, I play the file test.mp4 (from firefly@firefly:/usr/local$ ) using Parole Media Player and everything works well.
Next I do
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
After this, mp4 files will not play.

P.S. the same behavior if I install the image ROC-RK3588S-PC_Ubuntu20.04-Gnome-r30028_v1.1.1b_230914

2) How are the two images (ROC-RK3588S-PC-EXT and ROC-RK3588S-PC) different?

Since it is a customized system, apt upgrade is not supported.
After executing apt upgrade, the system version software will be overwritten, causing the customized software to not work properly.

Usually, when you run apt upgrade, the system version software will be erased. The custom tools won't work right.

Yeah, I¡¯ve run into similar issues with updates on customized Linux systems. Did the same thing once on a dev board and broke the graphics drivers. Reinstalling the original image fixed it, but after that I stayed away from ¡°apt upgrade¡± unless I knew exactly what packages were involved.

When I make simple demo footage or test clips for hardware like this, I usually use a simple video editing software to trim and export the files properly first. That way I can avoid compatibility issues during playbac

In the tense horror game  five nights at freddy's, players must survive aggressive animatronic characters. A scary atmosphere, thrilling gameplay, and a mysterious plot are all in store!

It looks like the update changed some codec packages causing the mp4 playback issue. You can try reinstalling gstreamer plugins or using VLC as an alternative. The difference between the two images may relate to driver or hardware extensions. By the way, after debugging, relaxing with the browser game slope 2  is fun and helps clear your mind before the next coding session.
