Display selection Automatic or Manual?

So I haven't gotten the device yet, but my main interest in it is overclocking and optimizing performance as I want to use it as a micro console. My question is does the board automatically detect the connected display in android or will I have to manually change it to VGA if it defaults to HDMI?

And the HDMI takes priority.

This means that ?if the VGA is currently connected,?

plugging in the HDMI cable will switch to HDMI display,

leaving the blank VGA display.
