kgdb debugging on Android 5.1

I would need some help on kgdb debugging on Android 5.1.
I am trying to learn how to write kernel drivers and it would be extremely helpful if I can debug my code with kgdb. I have compiled the kernel with kgdb suppor. But I am still having issue with running kgdb and connect it with my PC which is running Ubuntu 14.04.
Would someone kindly point me in the right direction as in
1. How should I configure my Ubuntu PC to connect with my Firefly with gdb?
2. How can I find the right serial port on Firefly, configure and run kgdb?
