audio noise due to Linux scheduling

I discovered that audio playback was noisy using mplayer.? The noise went away by running mplayer under nice -n -20.




I'm just using mplayer as installed.

Is there some config details I missed?

What is your audio output? headphone, HDMI or SPDIF ?
