【Hardware】 USB Type C Display Issue

Hi,

We tested ROC-RK3399-PC USB type C display performance and had two problems:

1. Connect to DP 4K Monitor with USB Type C to DP Dongle
-->Monitor works only on certain side of USB Type C connector.

2. Connect to USB Type C Monitor (Dell U3219Q)
-->No Function. Nothing displays on the monitor.

Does anyone have the similar issue and know how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Could you elaborate a bit about "on certain side of USB Type C connector"?

Thanks for asking. As far as we know, USB-C plug may be inserted either side (the connector is reversible so that it can be used in any orientation). But in our test, when using USB-C to DP Dongle, the USB-C on the ROC-RK3399-PC only displayed (have function) in one side. If we turned to the other side and stick in the USB-C connector, the monitor showed nothing.

How about the second issue? (connecting to USB Type C Monitor) What's the potential cause?

1. Connect to DP 4K Monitor with USB Type C to DP Dongle
-->Monitor works only on certain side of USB Type C connector.

This has been confirmed. It's the driver problem.

  1. 2. Connect to USB Type C Monitor (Dell U3219Q)
  2. -->No Function. Nothing displays on the monitor.
Copy the code

We haven't this monitor, so would you please attach a kernel log with monitor plug out and in.
