The MIPI DSI specification supports output in YUV422 colour space. Can the RK3399 be configured to output in YUV? By default the output is RGB888.

It is my understanding that HDMI can be configured to output in YUV as well as RGB.

Temporory , DSI cannot support YUV422, it will support later , maybe.
HDMI can configure YUV444, 422 by Settings, This function will be added later.

Thank you for confirming.

So the hardware supports YUV422 but it just requires software development? Is there anything which will prevent adding support in software myself?

If you  can get the main branch of the Rockchip RK3399,  try to fetch and modify it .
Rockchip had already update this function.
