To enter BIOS mode and set up your computer to boot from a USB drive, follow these steps:
Prepare Your USB Drive:
Ensure your USB drive is bootable. You can use tools like Rufus, the Windows Media Creation Tool, or Etcher to create a bootable USB drive.
Restart Your Computer:
Plug the bootable USB drive into a USB port on your computer.
Restart your computer.
Enter BIOS/UEFI:
As your computer starts up, press the key that opens the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. This key varies by manufacturer but is often one of the following: F2, F10, F12, Del, or Esc. You might see a message on the screen during startup indicating which key to press.
Navigate to the Boot Menu:
Once in the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, use the arrow keys to navigate to the “Boot” menu.
Set USB as the First Boot Device:
In the Boot menu, find the list of boot devices. Change the boot order to place your USB drive at the top of the list. This ensures that your computer will attempt to boot from the USB drive first.
Save and Exit:
Save your changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. This is usually done by pressing F10, but it can vary. Confirm any prompts to save changes.
Boot from USB:
Your computer should now restart and boot from the USB drive. |
