Title: wifi not connecting -- SOLVED last post

I have a wifi access point.? I can connect to it with my phone and my Debian laptop.

I install wicd, the same program I use on the laptop.

With the same wpa_supplicant.conf file I use on the laptop the Firefly won't connect.? It maybe because I'm not familiar with Ubuntu and don't have the file in the right location or ???

I'm not sure the config file actually gets read.

Any clues on troubleshooting?

You need to connect your phone to Firefly through WIFI, so your phone can share the Firefly's network, right? On Ubuntu?

No.

I have a wifi router that connects to the Internet.

I want the Firefly to be able to connect to that router.

I know the router works because my phone, (and others) can access the Internet via the router.

My Debian laptop can connect via the router.

Using wpa_supplicant.conf from the laptop doesn't work on the Firefly. ?However, Ubuntu uses different locations for certain config files than Debian and I'm not sure I have the file in the correct location for Ubuntu.

Thanks.

In the default factory Ubuntu OS, there's a NetworkManager applet in the tray.?

You can try that first to make sure the connection is ok. Then try the wpa_supplicant

method.

Thanks,

I had to log in as root to set that up and it connected.
