So - not sure if you got anywhere with this but the errors in the log say that the pcie bus isn't configured to be powered up in the device tree - have you grabbed a newer ubuntu image & tried again?

As far as I know the device tree is configured in the dts files at compile time

I'll be honest I'm investigating a similar problem with m.2 - different card though - I would be interested to hear if you have had any luck

OK, a closer look at your logs show that the PCIE bus is actually coming up, and attempting to enable a device

you should be able to see the sata adapter with lspci - if you can't then try a newer image - there is a quite recent one
