Help - rk 3399 - factory reset does not work. give me simple steps to recover

Am new to linux, but have decent knowledge to code.. and not deal yet knowing recovery / imaging.. So please help.

We are prototyping a business solution. you are one of the 3 we have picked. our app works on raspberry pi, but we need more RAM..

Please help asap. Else, we will move on.. loss for you and for us too..

What happened?
RK 3399 - first boot, switched to ubuntu
1. sudo apt-get update
2. sudo apt-get upgrade.. took a long time.. so i took a 2 hr break.. and then, screen was black.. no response.. i basically pulled the power out and then on, machine is messed up.

Factory reset, does not do anything.

After wasting 3 hours am still in the same place.

The update tool does not work. .. Really this is waste of time.

Even i try to put in /usr/local/bin - still similar issue

When i looked online - this happens when an application is not working well... Linux is also a bad os, that it does not give right messages..

Anyways, do you have ideas.. or am i going to waste more time.??
