Im looking at getting a heavy duty power adapter here for overclocking and heavy stress testing

http://www.adafruit.com/products/658

What I want to know is does the board already have a 2.1mm plug or should i purchase the usb converter for the Power adapter?

It's not a standard 2.5/2.1mm DC socket (see my comment) ?so you will need the usb adapter.

i decided the 4amp one would be enough for my needs :] its cheaper too

any reason you wouldnt go beyond 3amp? as im aware the board will only pull what it needs so going beyond 3 would only mean more headroom.

The Firefly is internally protected at the dc plug with a 3 Amp fusible link. So if pull over 3 amps on the board you will be learning how to solder a new power plug on the board. Look at the schematics third page power supply upper right hand corner.
