I think it's already pretty much at root when you flash the firmware. The only thing that I've had trouble with is removing the RKBMC app and a few others, but there are root apps that can manage that for me.

we can access the su from Terminal but apps are not able to access the su. we are getting error operation not permitted.

Firefly-rk3399 root have already set in the developer options, just go to turn it on.

didnt find the root option in developer option. Can you please share the screenshot of your developer option?

I have the same problem and I have tried unsuccessfully to root the device.

If you search the forums people recommend downloading the "adb.exe" tool (Android Bridge Driver).

But when I plug the board into my PC, adb doesn't recognise it as a device.

I have tried playing around with the usb settings (MTP, PTP, etc.) ... but no luck.

Please let me know if you have luck rooting it because I need this solution as well.

Done. Factory Reset my RK3399 board and it worked.

So, follow the instructions here (http://bbs.t-firefly.com/forum.p ... &highlight=root) ... and you should be fine.
